總體説，時間表達有以下幾種方法：

A.整點：

用鐘點(基數詞) + o'clock 來表示整點 。注意o'clock須用單數可以省略。

如：one o'clock 1點鐘 12 (o'clock) 12點鐘

B.非整點：

①順讀

用鐘點(基數詞)+ 分鐘的順序直接寫出時間，表示非整點後不可加o'clock.

如：ten forty 十點四十 seven ten 七點十分

②逆讀

如果分鐘數少於30分鐘，可用“分鐘 + past + 鐘點”表示 past是介詞意思是“過”。

如 twenty past ten 十點二十

如果分鐘數多於30分鐘，可用“60分鐘-原分鐘數+ to +原小時數+ 1” to是介詞，意思是“差”。

如 11:35 可表示為twenty-five to twelve 12點差二十五分(即十一點三十五，其中的分鐘數twenty-five 是由60分鐘減去35分鐘得到的鐘點數)

注： 當分鐘數是15分鐘時可用名詞quarter一刻鐘表示。

如：7:15可表示為 a quarter past seven

12:15可表示為 a quarter past twelve

當分鐘數是30分鐘時可用名詞half 一半表示。

如：30可表示為 half past

9:30可表示為 half past nine
