Dear freshmen,

Good evening!

I take great pleasure to preside at tonight`s welcome evening party and deliver an opening speech. On behalf of the Students’ Union, I wish to convey the most gracious greeting and thank you all for your attendance.

It is a delight to have friends coming from afar. Meeting freshmen is one of the most exhilarating moments for our university in a year, as well as a new beginning for seniors. Dear freshmen, the moment you step into the gate of university you look back upon the past and into the future, you must have the sense that your life could be amazingly different. As the saying goes, “Distance separates no bosom friends.” This new big family will give you a big hug with all its warmth and enthusiasm.

Hope the evening party will leave you a deep impression. Hope you all can get on with your new classmates harmoniously, adapt to your college life soon and make the coming semester a more fruitful semester!

各位老師、親愛的同學們：

大家好！

今天，我們將有來自世界各地的17名留學生通過通信留學生“1+1”活動加入我們本科2014級的15個班級，在此，讓我代表通信學院對各位留學生表示熱烈的歡迎。同時，我也要向大力支持通信留學生活動的國際合作與交流處表示誠摯感謝。

通信留學生“1+1”活動以通信學院、國際教育學院兩個學院學生為主體，開展各類活動。活動幫助留學生更好地融入中國生活的同時也拓寬了我們同學們的國際視野。加強留學生與我們的同學們的交流，使雙方建立起友誼和長期穩定的聯繫，並以互幫互助的形式達到雙方共同成長共同進步的目的。

“1+1”不僅代表了通信學院加上國際教育學院兩個學院共同參與此次活動，更代表了留學生與中國學生兩個羣體，各出一份力，為彼此提供幫助的.美好願景。希望我們能通過此項目，使雙方都有所收穫，進而達到培養具有國際意識、國際交往能力、國際競爭能力的創新型人才的目的，收貨一加一大於二的效果。

同學們，大學的任務是探索、創新和傳播高深知識，而知識具有普遍性。21世紀經濟全球化和信息技術的發展使文化學術交流成為時代的主題，知識的傳播已跨越了國界。高等教育呈現出教育國際化、大學功能一體化、教育信息化、學科交叉綜合化的總趨勢，尤其是隨着中國在全球事務中越來越發揮着舉足輕的作用，人才培養的國際化已不再是一個選項而是必須。

在此，我對同學們提幾點希望：

1.希望同學們能夠通過互相交流學習，感受到不同文化差異碰撞出的火花。擴大各自的生活圈，見識不一樣的世界。通過互相學習，互相磨合，培養自身的跨文化素養，幫助大學生的情感、態度、價值觀水平的提升。

2.希望我們的同學能夠發揚中華民族親仁善鄰的傳統美德。與留學生互相尊重，相互關心，幫助留學生更加自然的融入中國的大學生活，感受到來自異國友人的熱情。希望我們彼此雙方，都能以真心去經營雙方得之不易的特殊友誼。

3.希望“1+1”項目能夠成為打開國際視野，培養創新思維的新橋樑。全面深入的交流模式，不僅能提高同學們的外語水平、學術水平，還能夠促使同學們形成“中西合璧”的創新思維模式，為我們科大培養具有國際背景的創造性人才打下良好基礎。

Ladies and gentlemen,

Good afternoon!

Today , we’ll have about 15 international students to join in the "1+1" activity and then join the 15 classes of grade behalf of Communication and Information Institute,I would like to welcome these international students the same time,I want to give special thanks to International Education Institute.

This “1+1”activity is held by Communication and Information Institute and International Education Institute,aiming at helping international students enjoy their life in China and broadening our students’ horizon only providing more opportunities for both international students and our students to share and communicate, this activity also helps all the students to establish a long-term friendship and then to make progress together. All the students and these 2 institutes contribute a lot to this activity, and I sincerely wish that this activity can gain great achievements.
