ladies and gentlemen , good afternoon! i’m very glad to stand here and giveyou a short speech. today my topic is “youth”. i hope you will like it , andfound the importance in your youth so that more cherish it.

first i want to ask you some questions:

1、do you know what is youth?

2、how do you master your youth?

youth

youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is thefreshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .

youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of theappetite , for adventure over the love of ease. this often exists in a man of 60more than a boy of 20 . nobody grows old merely by a number of years . we growold by deserting our ideals.

years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul y , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.

whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ‘s heart the lure ofwonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the gameof living . in the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wireless station: so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and powerfrom men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .

when the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows ofcynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but aslong as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you maydie young at 80.

thank you!

Good afternoon, my dear teachers and friends,

Suppose you are in a dark cave alone now. Maybe you can not find any hope, you are trembling and frightened. What will you do? What will you say? Will you give up? (……) No we should not give up. We should try our best to find hope. So today, I am honored to stand here to share my opinion with you---- Let’s say NO to Give UP.

Today I am very glad to be here to share with you my ideas of success. Whatis success? It is what everyone is longing times success would be rathersimple. Winning a game is success; getting a high grade in the exam is success;making a new friend is success; even now I am

However, as a person’s whole life is concerned, success becomes verycomplicated. Is fortune success? Is fame success? Is high social statussuccess? No, I don’t think so. I believe success is the realization ofpeople’s hopes and days, in the modern society there are manypeoplewho are regarded as the successful. And the most obvious characteristics ofhem are money, high position and luxurious life. So most people believe that ssuccess and all that they do is for this purpose. But the problem is wether itis real success. We all know there are always more money, higher position andbetter condition in front of us. If we keep chasing them, where is the end? Whatwill satisfy us at last? Therefore, we can see, to get the real Success we mustneed something inside, which is the realization of

Different people have different ideas about success; cause people’s hopesand ideas vary from one another. But I am sure every success is dear toeverybody, cause it is not easy to come by, cause in the process of our strivingfor success, we got both our body and soul tempted, meanwhile we are enlightenedby the most valuable qualities of human beings: love, patient, courage and senseof responsibility. These are the best treasures. So now I am very proud that Ihave this opportunity to stand here speaking to all of you. It is my success, cause I raise up to challenge my hope.

What is success? Everyone has his own interpretation as I do. But I amsureevery success leads to an ever-brighter future. So ladies and gentlemen, believe in our hopes, believe in ourselves, we, every one of us, can make a

no young man believes he shall ever die. it was a saying of my brother's,and a fine one. there is a feeling of eternity in youth, which makes us amendfor everything. to be young is to be as one of the immortal gods. one half oftime indeed is flown-the other half remains in store for us with all itscountletreasures; for there is no line drawn, and we see no limit to our hopesand wishes. we make the coming age our own-

the vast, the unbounded prospect lies before us.

death. old age. are words without a meaning. that paby us like the idea airwhich we regard not. others may have undergone, or may still be liable tothem-we "bear a charmed life“, which laughs to scorn all such sickly fancies. asin setting out on delightful journey, we strain our eager gaze forward-

bidding the lovely scenes at distance hail!

and see no end to the landscape, new objects presenting themselves as weadvance; so, in the commencement of life, we set no bounds to our to the unrestricted opportunities of gratifying them. we have as yet foundno obstacle, no disposition to flag; and it seems that we can go on so look round in a new world, full of life, and motion, and ceaseleprogress; andfeel in ourselves all the vigor and spirit to keep pace with it, and do notforesee from any present symptoms how we shall be left behind in the naturalcourse of things, decline into old age, and drop into the grave. it is thesimplicity, and as it were abstractedneof our feelings in youth, that (so tospeak) identifies us with nature, and (our experience being slight and ourpassions strong) deludes us into a belief of being immortal like it. ourshort-lives connection with existence we fondly flatter ourselves, is anindissoluble and lasting union-a honeymoon that knows neither coldness, jar, norseparation. as infants smile and sleep, we are rocked in the cradle of ourwayward fancies, and lulled into security by the roar of the universe aroundus0we quaff the cup of life with eager haste without draining it, instead ofwhich it only overflows the more-objects prearound us, filling the mind withtheir magnitude and with the strong of desires that wait upon them, so that wehave no room for the thoughts of death.
