That’s why I have no problem communicating with Americans or others by speaking English. In my spare time, I like to do anything relating to English such as listening to English songs, watching English movies or TV programs, or even attending the activities held by some english clubs or institutes. I used to go abroad for a short- term English study. During that time, I learned a lot of daily life English and saw a lot of different things. I think language is very interesting. More and more college students, in recent years, are finding it difficult to find jobs. This may sound strange since college students used to be the "most favored" people in society. They have received a higher education, hence they are more intelligent, knowledgeable than their counterparts who failed to attend college. But chances are that some of them can hardly find jobs after graduating from colleges.

There are two reasons that account for this strange phenomenon. One is that some college students cannot come to terms with themselves and with the world around them. They pursue too high goals and are too particular about such factors as working conditions, salary, and so on. Therefore, they are reluctant to accept the job when they are offered to them. Another reason is that the majors some students pursue do not match with the demands of the job market. As a result, they canonly sit and miss opportunities.

To solve this problem, I think college students should know their own strengths and weaknesses and have the right attitude towards themselves and the job vacancies. In addition, they should not attach too much importance to material aspects of the job. They

should put priority to their future development and their contributions to society in stead. Furthermore, they should think of receiving some further training to meet the demands of society.

  要善於模仿

一些同學的辦法往往是背一堆範文,然後再到考場上進行一個“剪切”、“粘貼”的工作,真正的模仿重點永遠要放在一定的句式結構上,而非個別的詞彙。有一個句式説:“…for the simple reason that…”表示某種現象的原因是什麼,用在大學聯考寫作中,我們就可以拿來解釋為什麼自行車在中國如此的流行:“The bicycle is very popular in China for the simple reason that…”。然而,很多同學一談到原因仍然是“…because…”。如果要表示“總是能夠”的概念,很多同學提筆就會寫can always,但理想的句子應該是用雙重否定表示強烈的肯定,用never fail to。

  要靈活變通

在批改過上萬份同學們英語作文中,經常能發現一些將中文生硬地翻譯成英文的表達法。有一句話叫做“立志如山,行道如水”,寫英文作文,一定要有決心把它 寫好,有信心把意思表達清楚,這是“立志如山”;但關鍵是遇到問題時要有個靈活的態度,能像流水一樣變通解決問題。有個翻譯界的故事説:在某大型國際會議 的招待會上,一道菜是用雞蛋做的。與會的客人問翻譯:“What is it made of”本來是非常簡單的一個問題,結果翻譯太緊張,忘了“egg”這個詞,但是他急中生智,回答:“It is made of Miss Hen’s son.”這裏,就是一個靈活變通的範例。繞道表達,是寫作中應該常常運用的一種方法。

  要細心觀察

注意英語中一些表達上的習慣。比如在正式文體的寫作中,很少用 “it isn’t”這樣的略縮形式,而往往是一板一眼地寫作 “it is not”。同理,在正式文體中的日期一般不縮寫,阿拉伯數字一般會用英文表達(特別長的數字除外)。

許多同學在寫作文時,習慣於把“since”“because” “for”這樣的.詞放在句首引導原因狀語從句。事實上,在我們見到的英語報刊雜誌文章中,這樣的從句一般都是放在主句之後的。另外, “and”也常常被誤放在一句話的開頭,表示兩個句子之間的並列或遞進關係。其實,經常留心地道的英語文章能發現,如果是並列關係,完全可以不用連詞;如果是遞進關係,用“furthermore” “what is more”更為普遍。

  要心有全局

英文寫作如果結構意識良好,應試寫作就簡化成為一個填空的過程了,適當地填入觀點、素材,文章就自然而然立起來了。
