有不少否定的祈使句用於表示告誡：

Don’t tell anybody， will you？ 不要告訴任何人，好嗎？
尤其要注意一些以 Never 開頭的祈使句。如：
Never say die. 不要氣餒！
Never speak to strangers！ 不要跟陌生人説話！
Never do that again. 再不要這樣做了。
Never ask her about her marriage. 決不要問她結婚的事。
Never buy expensive clothes. 決不要買貴重的衣裳。
Never touch an electric wire when it is broken. 絕不要動斷了的電線。
Never trouble trouble till trouble troubles you. 不要無事惹事。
Never hold a gun by the business end. 拿槍千萬別拿槍口那端。
Never identity opinions with facts. 絕不要把意見和事實等同起來。
