4.(表距離、脱離，分離)離

1. 有時其後可接介詞短語
Choose a book from among these. 從這些書中選一本吧。
比較：
I took it from the bed. 我從牀那兒(或牀上)拿的。
I took it from under the bed. 我從牀下拿的。
注意，下面一句用了 from where(引導非限制性定語從句)，而未用from which，其中的where=in the tree，即 from where=from in the tree：
He hid himself in a tree, from where he could see the enemy in the distance. 他躲在一棵樹上，從那兒他可以看到遠處的'敵人。
2. 有時其後可接when, where引導的賓語從句(可視為其前省略了the time, the place)：
He didn't speak to me from when we moved in. 從我們遷入之時起，他沒和我説過話。
From where I stood I could see everything clearly. 從我站的地方我一切都看得清清楚楚。
3. 某些由from…to…構成的習語通常不帶冠詞：
