一、比較狀語從句

比較狀語從句通常由as…as, 比較級 + than…等連詞引導。例如：

Tom runs faster than John does.

This classroom is as big as that one.

二、目的狀語從句

(1)目的狀語從句通常由 so that, in order that引導。例如：

We started early so that we could catch the first train.

He studies hard so that he could work better in the future.

We used the computer in order that we might save time.

(2)so that既可引導目的狀語從句，又可引導結果狀語從句。區別這兩種從句的辦法有兩個：1)目的狀語從句裏往往帶有情態動詞can, could, may, might等。2)從意思上看，目的狀語從句往往表示的目的很明確。例如：

Speak clearly so that they may understand you. (目的狀語從句)

Jack is badly ill so that he has to rest. (結果狀語從句)

三、讓步狀語從句

(1)讓步狀語從句通常由although, though等連詞引導。例如：

Though he is young, he knows a lot.

Although I am tired, I must go on working.

(2)although(though)不能用在同一個句子中。例如：

我們不能説：Though it was raining hard, but he still went out.

應該説：Though it was raining hard, he still went out.或It was raining hard, but he still went out.

加es構成複數的名詞：

beach—beaches

tomato—tomatoes

將f或fe改為v加es構成複數的名詞：

knife—knives

leaf—leaves

複數變化不規則的`名詞：

fish—fish/fishes

虛擬語氣

如果我們所説的不是事實，而只是一種假設、願望、建議或是一種實現不了的空想就用虛擬語氣。

注意：條件句分兩種，真實條件句和虛擬條件句。只有在虛擬(非真實)條件句中，才用虛擬語氣;而在真實條件句中，要用陳述語氣。

請比較：

(1)If it is sunny tomorrow ， we’ll go to the zoo。

如果明天天氣好，我們將會去公園。

在這句話中，明天天氣好是完全有可能實現的，並非虛擬、幻想，因此是真實條件句，在本句中，適用“主將從現。”

(2)If I were you ， I would go at once。

如果我是你的話，我立刻就走。

在這句話中，條件句“如果我是你”，但事實上，我不可能成為你，這只是假設的情況，沒有實現的可能。當條件實現的可能性很小，甚至可以説沒有時，就需要用虛擬語氣來表示。

虛擬語氣表示和現在的事實相反，從句用一般過時，主句用 “should/would/could/ might +動詞原形。

例如 ：

If I had time， I would go for a walk。

If I were invited， I would go to the dinner party。

If I won a million dollars in the lottery， I would put it in the bank。

If I were you ， I’d wear a shirt and tie。
