Exhausted from days of walking, he passed into unconsciousness by a river in India. A shepherdess found him there and fed him her lunch—porridge made with beans and rice. With such nourishment he was able to continue his journey. After six years of strict discipline, he finally realized his dream of full enlightenment on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month.

Ever since, monks have prepared rice porridge on the eve ad held a ceremony the following day, during which they chant the sutras and offer porridge to Buddha. Thus, the tradition of eating laba porridge was based in religion, though with time the food itself became a popular winter dish especially in cold northern China.

老師開始講課了，那是一個既年輕有可愛的小老師吧！他的來臨使我感到英語不可怕。他講起課來雄壯威武，氣勢磅礴。他的聲音是可以迴盪整個學校的。原來他的教學方式是應用李陽的瘋狂英語，上這種課，讓我一下就愛上了英語課。當初的一切心理便悄悄的離開了。我在英語世界中慢慢地適應了，我要好好努力，讓我面對英語的表情是輕鬆自在的。

學英語不可怕，只要我們肯努力我相信學好英語不是一個很難的，令人頭疼的科門。如果説使我不害怕英語的真正原因，那便是我的英語老師，他的瘋狂英語真幽默。

有一天，爸爸收到一份廣告，上面説人才中心要舉辦艾斯通英語培訓班，由老外任教。3月13日，老外在人才中心上公開課，那天上午，爸爸徵求了我的意見後，帶着我去聽公開課。

上課了，進來了兩個女老師。爸爸告訴我，那個金髮碧眼個子很高的便是老外，旁邊那個是中國老師，她是老外的助教，在課堂教學中幫助老外和我們溝通。老外不會説中文，她首先用英語作了自我介紹，接着教我們每個人都用英語説“mynameis……”。那天老外上課的主要內容是人的五官和身體的主要部位，她將這些單詞用圖形掛在黑板上，並要求我們每個人走到講台上和她一起邊做動作邊讀。開始，我有些讀音發不準，但老外一點都不煩，她耐心地教我很多遍，直到我讀準確為止。當同學們讀會這些單詞後，老外把我們全都叫到講台上，圍成一個圈，由她指着自己身體的部位讀，如果對了，我們也用手指着自己身體同樣的部位跟着讀；如果錯了，看我們誰反應快，糾正老外的“錯誤”。這個遊戲很好玩，同學們都踴躍參與，課堂氣氛很濃。遊戲結束後，老外還興致勃勃地教我們學唱英文歌……

老外教英語，真是有趣，她的公開課讓我對英語好象有了點興趣。老外的名字叫瑪麗婭，一個澳大利亞人，跟她學英語我很快樂。
