　　1. pedigree

這是一個相對比較正式的單詞，意思一般是“出身;家族;血統;門第”等。當然在指動物時一般是指“純種”。這種詞在題材相對嚴肅的影片中比較容易遇到。給大家舉幾個例子以便更容易記住它：

1) A penniless lass with a long pedigree and a sweet face, she had been raised by a scheming aunt to find a million dollars and marry it.

這位小姑娘雖然一貧如洗，卻是世家出身，由姑母撫養大，長得俏麗動人。這位長輩頗有心計，一心想讓侄女嫁個百萬富翁。

2)He comes from a family of pedigree.

他出身名門。

　　2. Katherine Watson didn't come to Wellesley to fit in.

這個句子的意思是：凱瑟琳·華森到韋爾斯利學院並非是來融入其中的。這種句式是英語中的一種常見句式，我們稱之為否定轉移句。此句裏的否定不是針對come，而是否定fit in的。類似的句子有很多，比如：

I don't teach because teaching is easy for me. 這句話的意思不是表面説的“我不教書是因為教書對我來説很容易”，而是“我教書並不是因為教書對我來説很容易。”

再比如在之前的電影《情歸巴黎》中，有兩句台詞是這樣的：

No self-respecting lawyer would offer less.

No self-respecting waitress would take it.

要注意兩句的翻譯為：

--任何一個有自尊的律師提供的價錢都不會比這個數目少。

--任何一個有自尊的.女侍者都不會接受這筆錢。

所以大家在理解否定轉移句子的時候要特別當心，同時也可以學着用類似的表達。

　　3. Terrific

口語中極常見的感歎詞，意思一般是“好極了，棒極了，太漂亮了”等等。我們再積累一些類似表達的詞彙，如：

Gorgeous, fantastic, amazing, superb, fabulous, wonderful, marvelous 等等，這些詞在口語中本身就可以構成單字的句子，通常表示感歎。

　　4. I'm dying to meet her.

相信大家一看這個句子就理解它的意思了，因為非常形象。當我們想表達對什麼事情的急切和渴望的心情的時候，就可以用這種誇張的説法。意思是very eager to do sth.

如：She's dying to leave for Paris.

她非常想去巴黎。

Iam dying to watch the movie adapted from my favorite novel.

我迫不及待地想看看這部改編自我最喜歡的小説的電影。
