How to deal with peer pressure

College students are often obsessed by peer pressure from their classmates or schoolmates. Facing others’ hard work and good performance in academic and other aspects, many students feel great pressure.

Then, how to deal with this kind of peer pressureThe following measures can be t, you should take a careful look at your present level and set a practical object. You needn’t always compare yourselves with those on the top and just make your efforts towards your object.

Second, under peer pressure, you shouldn’t feel discouraged and pressed. Instead, you should make it your motivation for harder work.

Finally, if you find pressure is nearly beyond your control, you’d better turn to professional psychological guidance.

As a college student, I have no way to avoid peer pressure, so I try to figure out the way to do with it well. I set my own goal, including my practical level and my position among the peers. Because of my focus on my own goal, I have no time and energy to think about the pressure. So I’m little troubled by it.

To conclude, we should not escape from peer pressure, but learn to make best use of it, since it can hardly be avoided.

Is Good Appearance More Important than Capability

Old people often tell the young, “Don’t judge a person by his appearance”, meaning capability is more important than appearance. However, nowadays, with more interviewers putting emphasis on looks and the appearance of the applicants(獨立主格結構表示原因), a lot of people come to the conclusion(得出結論) that appearance is more important than capability.

老人們常告訴年輕人：“不要以貌取人”，意思就是説能力比容貌更加重要。然而，現如今，鑑於更多的人在面試中強調面貌，因此，許多人得出這樣的結論容貌比能力更加的重要。As for me, I can’t agree with this argument. Good appearance is pleasant, but capability is more important, because it demonstrates one’s self-cultivation and practical values. It shows the efforts and the glory of acquiring something through one’s hard work, whereas good looks bespeak no struggle of the individual. Besides, maybe sometimes a beautiful face can help a girl acquire a good position, but in the long run(長久看來) it is her talent not her look that really works in her career development.(強調句)

至於我，我不同意這樣的觀點。好的容貌是悦人的'，但是能力更加重要，因為它能證明一個人的自我修養和實際的價值。它表明通過一個人的努力而獲得某種東西的努力和光榮，而不是好的容貌使你不勞而獲。此外，或許有時一個美麗的容貌能夠幫助一個女孩獲得一個好的職位，但是長久看來是她的資質不是她的容貌在她的事業發展中起着作用。

Therefore, those without good appearance(作those的定語) needn’t feel depressed because one’s success depends on his capability; those with good appearance have to work hard since good appearance cannot bring a person final success.

因此，那些沒有好的容貌的人不需要感到沮喪因為一個人的成功依賴他的能力，而那些有好的容貌的更需要好好努力因為好的容貌並不會給你帶來最終的成功。

Learn to Be Grateful

Nowadays, quite a few college students lack conciousness of being grateful. They turn to take such things for granted, as parents supporting them, teachers helping them, and waiters serving them. They are even mean to say Thank you to others. This phenomenon has caused great attention from the whole society.

The following reasons can account for the lack of gratefulness conciousness. First of all, unsound family education plays an important role. Many parents turn to pay too much attention to children's academic performance, but ignore their value orientation. Moreover, schools don't input enough time and money in moral education. Besides, nowadays, college students get so much love that they are insenstive to others' care and help.

Considering the seriousness of the problem, it is high time to take effective measures to strengthen college students conciousness of being grateful. First, parents should improve self-quality and influence children by their own behaviors. Second, our society and schools must increase input in moral education, and try to build the atmosphere of being grateful. Finally, we college students should learn to express our gratefulness to people around us, just beginning from the simple Thank you.
