Recent years have witnessed a marked growth of fire accidents in cities. We often see flashing fire engines rushing through the streets. Fires have not only caused heavy econornic losses but also injured and killed many people.

What are the causes of fire accidents? Most of the fires are caused by carelessness and violation of fire safety regulations. Other fires are caused by home electrical appliances, because they are of poor quality or because people do not know how to use them properly. Besides, some businesses have focused so much of their atlention on profits that they often ignore fire precautions.

To prevent fires and reduce iamages from fire accidents, we should educate people to raise their sense of fire prevention, warn children of the dangers of playing with matches, and instruct workers to be more careful with insulation. In addition, we should improve existing fire engines and add more fire facilities to high buildings. Thus, the fire prevention system will become more reliable. (164 words)

　　Buying a House Downtown or in the Suburbs

Currently，the major dilemma which most people face when purchasing houses is to buy a house downtown or a house in the suburbs.

目前，大多數人在購買住房時面臨的主要困境是在市區買房還是在郊區買房。

Those who decide to buy a house downtown have long been dreaming of living in a house of their own in the center of a city. They believe that only by living in a house downtown can they live a convenient life, as they can easily get to supermarkets, restaurants, hospitals and cinemas.

那些決定在市中心買房的人一直夢想着住在市中心屬於自己的房子裏。他們認為，只有住在市中心，才能過上方便的`生活，因為他們可以很方便地去超市、餐館、醫院和電影院。

Other people, however, believe that it is not realistic and necessary for all people to buy a house downtown. With the process of urbanization, the difference will be smaller and smaller. Furthermore, you can buy a car with the money you save while buying the house. The best way is to keep balance between location, price and other factors.
