The Dragon Boat Festival, the 5th day of the 5th lunar month,has had a history of more than 2,000 years. It is usually in June in the Gregorian calendar。

端午節(農曆五月初五)是中國古老的傳統節日，始於春秋戰國時期，至今已有2000多年曆史。通常在陽曆的六月份。

粽子tsung-tse/rice dumplings：Glutinous rice(糯米) filled with meat, nuts or bean paste(豆醬) and wrapped in bamboo leaves. The custom of eating tsung-tse is also popular in North and South Korea, Japan and Southeast Asian nations。

Dragon boat racing is an indispensable part of the festival. As the gun is fired, people will see racers in dragon-shaped canoes pulling the oars harmoniously and hurriedly, accompanied by rapid drums, speeding toward their destination。

For thousands of years, the festival has been marked by eating zong zi and racing dragon boats. The festival is best known for its dragon-boat races, especially in the southern provinces where there are many rivers and lakes. This regattacommemorates the death of Qu Yuan, an honest minister who is said to have committed suicide by drowning himself in a river. The dragon-boat race symbolizes the many attempts to rescue and recover Qu's body. A typical dragon boat ranges from 50-100 feet in length, with a beam of about 5.5 feet, accommodating two paddlers seated side by side.

農曆正月十五日是元宵節，緊隨春節之後。古時候，人們提前二十天為“春節”做準備，然而，元宵節為春節畫上了句號，元宵之後，一切歸於平常。元宵節是家庭團聚的傳統佳節，最隆重的活動就是展掛各種各樣美麗的燈籠，故此，元宵節又叫“燈節”。
